Issue #8 is now shipping. See our magazine page for some pdf's and our new cover. We have some great coverage from drag racing at the March Meet to Paso to the Lone Star Round-Up. We are also featuring some great rides. We have two mind blowing kustoms out of Colorado a wicked fast 64 El Camino and a very slick traditional '31 Ford Tudor that you have to check out. We also have the first installment of The Kings of Speed: The Nolan White Story, this is a really good read! If you haven't done so please sign up for our email announcement, this is an easy way for us to keep you updated on all the goings on here at Speed & Chrome. Thanks for stopping by.

We are shipping on our newest issue, #8. Event coverage includes the March Meet held at Famoso in Bakersfield and West Coast Kustoms show in Paso Robles.

Here's a picture of just one of the fabulous cars running that day:

We are making some good progress on Project 27. Check out that page for the latest updates. We are also planning our first real feature on the build up. We are also seeking some sponsors for a few parts we still need. Email Lance for more info on how your company can get involved.

Thanks,

Viva Las Vegas...unfortunately, I was unable to attend this year, but not to worry. I put out the word to some of our friends, and they stepped up to the challenge. We have some absolutely amazing coverage of the show. Verne Hammond, our friend from the Choppers Car Club, wrote up the story for it. Thanks, Verne.

On to some Nitro Burning drag racing. The Goodguys held the Nitro Nationals up at Infineon Raceway. They had some weather issues, but managed to pull it off anyway. Our new friend Rich Enos shot some great stuff of the racin’ and the show. Jim Handy, another new friend, (see a trend here?) sent us an article and photos of an extremely interesting ‘58 Chevy built by Joe Bailon. Based on an original car Joe built back in the 60’s, it is a wonderful car.

The Swanx. Some of you may have heard of them. Based out of Vallejo, this car club has some really great cars. We shot all of them and have quite a few pages to show you. The day of the shoot was a little challenging, as you may be able to see from some of the photos. We were chasing the light and dodging the rain, but we pulled it off. We shot the club at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo. It has some really amazing buildings out there. If you are a WWII buff like me, you will flip. Check it out some time.

We have heard from a lot of you about our new feature called Hot Rod Archives and you guys are really lovin’ it. So this issue, we expanded it to two pages instead of one. This issue is especially great because Jim Handy has been shooting drag races for over 40 years and has sent us some his work. I personally am an old photo freak, especially when it comes to vintage drag racing.

This is something that we would like to expand upon in the future. So I hope you know what that means. We are looking for some of our readers to get in touch with us. If you have some old drag racing photos, drop us a line or an email.

Okay. Here is a little secret I will share with you. We are also looking for vintage drag racing movies. You know. Those old 8mm movies from way back when. I suppose now you are thinking, “What does a hot rod magazine want with old movies?” Well, that’s a secret, like I said. So if you have some, please get hold of us. Land speed movies and photos are just as welcome too.

We have an update on our Project 27 land speed car you will also want to check out.
Brodix just sent us a set of heads and we are thrilled to death about it. The motor is moving along and the chassis is coming together. We hope to make some good progress this summer.

That’s about it for this issue. Look at the great pics and read some of the great articles while you’re at it.
